Remarkable climbs in Savoie Mont Blanc

I think this is quite a well kept secret – perhaps I missed it elsewhere but whilst reading Mrs Busy Biking’s Waitrose magazine (we don’t have Waitrose here?) I stumbled on this article about a series of closed road climbs  in the beautiful Savoie Mont Blanc region of France.  Here’s the details for those luck enough to get away.  Go for two weeks and do three!

There are 68 mountain passes and remarkable climbs in Savoie Mont Blanc. Between mid-June and the end of August, some of them are dedicated to cycling and a stretch of 8-10km are closed to cars, so cycling enthusiasts can practice their sport safely during the event “un jour, un col”.  Food, drink and festivities are organised around each climb.  There is no need to register, “un jour, un col” is an event open to anyone for free.

“Un jour, un col” is not a race but a meeting for cycling lovers who will take time to ride observing the “Safety Rules”
